Go easy on yourself In terms of building bridges, are you prepared to go easy on yourself and learn these new skills bit by bit without worrying that you are not doing it right? It is useful to remember that we are all doing the best we know how at any particular moment. The fact that you have begun to learn a new way does not take away from the fact that when you are at home in your normal situation you react in the way you ‘know’ in that situation. It is OK to be a good enough listener bit by bit remembering to try things differently and learning from the nice and not so nice examples you experience.
